If you qualify for the criteria of the program, assistance and support are guaranteed. When you have prescribed medications, you can receive unlimited prescriptions through the Medicaid Vendor Drug Program as well.
There is a plethora of home community – based services in Houston, Texas, that you can get in this program. But if you want to self-direct certain services, you can choose the Consumer Directed Services (CDS) option. Through this, you can assume and retain the responsibility to:
- recruit service providers depending on your choice
- conduct criminal history checks
- ascertain the competency of the service providers
- hire, manage, and disengage with their service providers
All TxHmL services can be taken through the CDS option. However, you must select a financial management services agency (FMSA) that will train you, compensate the providers, settle federal and state employers, and check the criminal history of providers.
