An intellectual or developmental disability, often known as IDD, refers to a group of severe, chronic disorders caused by mental and/or physical disabilities. IDD can begin at any age, up to the age of 22. It usually lasts a person’s entire life.
Every IDD service has its own set of rules. Most programs require that you:
- You have a limited amount of income and assets.
- You demonstrate a need for services.
- You must be a US citizen or a qualified legal alien residing in Texas.
- Several services, such as those for children, have age restrictions. Others are appropriate for persons of all ages.
