Texas Home Living, or the TxHmL Program, is a Medicaid waiver program designed to help people living with an intellectual disability or a related condition to help them live comfortably alongside the Texan community. Through this, essential services and various forms of support, such as community support and behavioral supports in Texas, are given to qualified Texans. People enrolled in this program are referred to as individuals, while those seeking to be part of the program are called applicants. To apply, you must be a Texas resident living in your own home or family’s home and must meet any of the following criteria:
- has an IQ of 69 or below or an IQ of 75 or below if the person has an approved related condition
- has mild to severe deficiency in adaptive behavior
- is eligible for Medicaid benefits
- is not enrolled in any other Medicaid waiver program
